The Problem
Defence Housing required a flexible climate control solution across their residential and support facilities where fixed HVAC installation was impractical or unavailable. Many workspaces and accommodation areas were experiencing temperature extremes — uncomfortable heat during warmer periods and insufficient warmth when temperatures dropped. This affected occupant comfort and productivity, particularly in temporary offices or multi-use spaces where air control was essential but standard systems couldn’t be installed.
The Solution
We provided and deployed the 5 kW Portable Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner, a mobile unit capable of both heating and cooling on demand, ensuring year-round comfort across various on-site settings. The unit’s portability allowed Defence Housing to place climate control exactly where it was needed — whether in temporary offices, communal areas, or accommodation zones — without the need for permanent installations. With quiet operation and a slim design that blends unobtrusively into occupied spaces, this solution offered immediate comfort improvements with minimal disruption.
The Challenge
- Versatile placement: The unit needed to be positioned to provide effective temperature regulation in multiple temporary or irregularly laid-out spaces without permanent ducting.
- Mixed climate needs: Defence Housing facilities required both heating and cooling depending on seasonal demand, meaning the solution had to perform reliably in both modes.
- Noise considerations: Ensuring that operation was quiet enough for residential and workspace environments without disrupting occupants.
- Power availability: The units had to operate efficiently within the available standard power supply infrastructure across different facility types.
