The Problem
TAFE Mount Druitt had workshop and learning spaces that were uncomfortably cold during cooler months, especially in areas with high ceilings and large open floor plans. Existing heating solutions were underpowered; students and staff experienced discomfort, which was affecting attendance and productivity during colder hours.
Solution
We installed industrial-grade heaters, specifically 2.4 kW and 9 kW units, to deliver sufficient heat output for the large indoor spaces. The heaters were placed in strategic positions to optimise the spread of warmth across the rooms, particularly focusing on zones where cold air settled. Installation was done out of regular class hours to avoid disruptions, and all safety standards for industrial heating equipment were strictly adhered to.
Challnges
Ensuring adequate heat distribution in large, high-ceiling rooms where heat tends to rise, thus needing careful placement and perhaps multiple units.
Managing installation logistics without disrupting the educational activities and daily operations of the TAFE facility.
Meeting industrial safety and electrical requirements, ensuring proper mounting, clearances, and ventilation.
Selecting heater capacities (kilowatt ratings) that offer enough warmth without overloading circuits or causing excessive energy usage.
